While I had not tried a wide range of Philippine dishes, JP Makes and Bakes served some excellent Diniguaan (blood stew). It was very rich and had big chunks of pork in it. It was very filling also. It was on their specials board so I don't know if it's available regularly. As for the atmosphere, it is more of a carryout place with one small table and chairs. There is some outdoor seating along with some of the other businesses along Woodward. Overall, I was impressed with the Diniguaan. I can't wait to go back and try another dish. If you do decide to go, keep in mind that seating is limited.

JP Makes and Bakes is a really nice spot with a strong Filipino influence in many of their items. They have several desserts featuring ube, and the ube brownie and the ube cookie were both really good with great flavor. The tamarind sherbet was also excellent very refreshing and unique. They also have a roll topped with everything bagel seasoning and cream cheese. It leans a bit sweet, but it actually works really well as a breakfast item. One thing I really liked is that everything is made fresh, and you can see straight into the kitchen while they’re working. It’s pretty cool to watch the creativity happening behind the scenes. Definitely a fun place to try something a little different.

I have known JP since Huddle days when he would have ube ice cream and my friend and I would go every year! We were ecstatic when we found out he was opening a bakery and we quickly became regulars. Every Wednesday we would go and catch up, it was an amazing and fun routine we had. JP was such a huge part of my life that I asked him to cater my wedding. My husband is Filipino as well as a lot of my friends, it was really special to have his culture be represented in a bakery that I have known for a long time. JP was amazing with helping us what to order and added no extra stress for a typically stressful time. Everything I have ever ate there has been amazing and the best that there is. We are so thankful for JP Makes and Bakes!!

Update: returned for the ube treats and the cheesecake is life-changing. So delicious, such a pleasant texture/mouth feel. The brownie again amazing. I tried the melon/Ube soft serve as well as the one from last time (Lychee/ube) and I don’t think I’m a fan of them. Made a special trip here with my friend after she saw a social ad for lunch bowls. The cafe is small and clean with very limited seating. They have a good selection of baked goods and small merchandise section. I bought the cutest tShirt. The staff was welcoming/friendly - offered a recommendation and let me sample the soft serve. For lunch we both ordered the savory special (ukoy) with their mangomansi drinks. The special was a generous serving of shrimp + veggies, perfect fritter like texture, seasoned well and served with a vinegary sauce plus white rice. For something sweet I tried the ube lychee twist soft serve (good, lightly floral and sweet), ube brownie (great flavor, moist cakey texture, not too sweet) and suman malagkit (glutenous textured dessert with light coconut and brown sugar flavor). I love that the specials are authentic Filipino cooking and excited to return for more.
